  • In the period of 2002–2004 OMEGA consult carried out demand and supply related research studies for Gynecologic Clinic in Central hospital Ljubljana, together with the preparation of Investment documentation for relocation of the Gynecologic Clinic.

1. Research related to demand and supply of services of the Gynecologic Clinic in Central hospital Ljubljana. The aim of the undertaken study was to work up a basis for the preparation of investment documentation for the relocation of the Gynecological Clinic to the Šlajmerjeva location. With a relocation of the clinic, a rationalization and reorganization of Gynecology department services would be made possible, simultaneously freeing up much needed space in the main building of UCC Ljubljana, which could then be utilized for other important functions. This report will make it possible to produce a document of identification of investment project for the relocation. The research was performed within the framework of the existing organization of UCC Ljubljana and the general healthcare system in Slovenia, with use of data made available by UCC Ljubljana. The research includes the following themes: (a) a statistical analysis of past demand, (b) forecast of future demand, (c) evaluation of the existing space and its current utilization, and (d) starting point for the design and evaluation of various alternatives for the relocation of the Gynecology department.

Research of the demand for and available capacities with possible alternatives of arrangement of the Endoscopic Unit in UCC Ljubljana. The purpose of the study was coming up with an expert basis for further decision making in connection with the construction of an extension of tract G of building DTS and the reorganization of the work of the endoscope department. Because of growth and change in the structure of work, the introduction of new methods and organizational restructuring, a shortage of space and unsuitable organization has become apparent. The research was performed in the context of the existing organizational structure of UCC Ljubljana and healthcare in Slovenia, utilizing available data from KC Ljubljana. The research covers the following main areas: (a) the statistical analysis of past demand, (b) the forecast of future demand, (c) the inventory of places and the utilization of space, (d) the definition of possible alternatives of the investment.

The main purpose of the assignment was to assess the spatial issues associated with current location of the Institute and the implementation of the novel substitute building at the location of the old military hospital in the capital Ljubljana. The assignment produced: a) the analysis of current conditions, b) the assessment of the purpose and goals of the investment, c) description of potential variants of the investment project, d) evaluation of investment value, e) definition of basal elements determining the investition, f) definition of required documentation and g) time strategy of the investment.

Preparation of a detailed Investment Programme with feasibility study for the investment intended to build the Clinical Institute of Work, Traffic and Sport Medicine, in UCC Ljubljana. The study included the following parts: a) analysis of existing condition, b) definition of novel objectives and their coordination with national strategy, c) technical and technological aspect of the project, d) analysis of personnel requirements, e) assessment of project value, f) analysis of the suitability of possible locations, g) analysis of environmental effects of the construction, h) time-line of investment implementation, i) financial plan of the investment, j) determination and calculation of efficacy and productivity indices, and k) analysis of sensitivity and study of investment execution.

Development of the information system and process model of the renewed emergency department of the university medical centre Ljubljana: (University Clinical Centre Ljubljana, 2007). The goal of the report is to present a strategic plan of information system development of the Emergency response department in Ljubljana. The concept of the information system is planned to suit the mission and vision of CC, to improve the level of patient service and, at the same time, also improve economic efficiency, through the effective use of information technology. The concept is divided into a few working procedures. The primary process in the concept is patient care management. Application of information system tools to this process improves the level of health service. The process, among others, envisions introduction of computer support for medication ordering and also image and results (diagnosis) transfer. Simultaneously with the primary process two supervision processes are in effect. They are responsible for tracking services rendered and waiting period record keeping. On one side they provide material and drugs consumption tracking and on the other side they introduce electronic signature and electronic ordering. Clinical decision support introduces electronic guidelines, care plans, identify variances from patient-specific and standard care plans, guidelines, and protocols and provide other important information. The analytical part of system, designed for management support, provides data about care results and quality identifiers.
